Synopsis:

Amidst the serenity of deep forest and simple way of life of Klitilang Village in Kanchanaburi, villagers here still have to eat fishes in the river that is contaminated by lead from the mine for years. This young man is no exception. He always goes out to catch fish for his lover but now he is mysteriously gone and has never come back to his lover who waits for him again.

Already an outstanding short filmmaker before making his documentary feature directorial debut with Boundary [2013], Nontawat Numbenchapol is now considered one of the most interesting young documentary filmmakers in the country. By the River, his second feature, premiered at Locarno International Film Festival in Cinema of the Present Competition and received Special Mention Award.
